What You Need To Know Befor Selecting A Guinea Pig Cage

Choosing the right Guinea Pig Cage for your guinea/s is one of the most important decisions that you will make, considering the guinea will spend most of their lives inside the cage you choose. Before you decide on a cage there are a few questions you need to ask yourself first;

Will the cage be for one, two or more guinea pigs? Depending on how many guinea pigs you will have, will decide on the size of the cage you need to get. Small Guinea Pig Cages are ok for one guinea, but if you intend on having several you will need a Large Guinea Pig Cage or maybe several cages.

Will you be keeping you guineas indoor or outdoors? This answer will also affect the type of cage or hutch you will need to get. Some cages are only suitable for indoors and others for outdoors, although there are a few cages and hutches that will be ok for both.

What is the climate in your region? Does your region have extreme weather conditions? For example; very cold winters with snow and ice. Then you may need two cages if you would like to keep them outdoors. This is a good idea anyways because you can keep your guinea outdoors during the warmer months and indoors through the winter.

How much do you won't to send on a guinea pig cage or hutch? You budget will determine this. You will find small guinea cages for under $25 or if you want to spoil you guinea, there a two-story cage that cost up to $150. If you can only afford a small cage then you should not get more than one guinea pig.
