Cleaning Your Guinea Pigs Cage:
The cleaning of you Guinea Pigs cage should be done once a week. So here is a step by step guide with pictures on 'How to Clean Your Guinea Pig Cage'
1. Remove the Guinea Pig/s from the cage and place them in a box or safe enclosed area. Make sure someone is watching them and that there are no loud noises around them.
2. Take out all their toys, food bowl, water bottles and hiding places. Then take the water bottle and food bowl to a sink and rinse them out as well as the hiding places. Scrub any dirt that may be left on them then fill up the sink with warm water and leave the water bottle, bowl and hiding places to submurge in the water. Leave them in the water intill you have finished cleaning.
3. Take your cage to a nice place where you can clean it and get a large plastic bag. Dump the old bedding into the bag While you are cleaning the cage, make sure your guinea pig is safe from loud noises, heavy objects that could fall on them, as well as prying cats and dogs!
4. Next spray the inside of the cage with a 50/50 mixture of white vinegar and water to clean it. This works better and is alot safer for your guinea pig than any other cleaning agent. For deeper stains and messes, use undiluted vinegar, but make sure to clean off well afterwards! Dry it with a towel before you put any bedding in the cage.
5. Make sure the cage is compleatly dry then add some fresh bedding, spread it around evenly. Refill their food bowl and water bottle and pick them some fresh grass.
